Non-adhesive Embolization(DMSO-EVOH)
LibroⓇ is a non-adhesive liquid embolic agent for embolization of brain Arteriovenous Malformations (AVM).
A unique solution for pre-surgical embolization of arteriovenous malformations
Libro is a non-adhesive EVOH-based liquid embolic agent for the embolization of peripheral and neurovascular Arteriovenous Malformations (AVM).
Libro is a non-adhesive liquid embolic agent comprised of EVOH (ethylene vinyl alcohol) copolymer dissolved in DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) and suspended micronized tantalum powder to provide contrast for visualization under fluoroscopy. Libro Liquid Embolic System consists of a 1.5 ml vial of Libro, a 1.5 ml vial of DMSO, two 1 ml Libro delivery syringes, and one 1 ml DMSO syringe. A DMSO-compatible delivery micro catheter that is indicated for use in the neuro vasculature is used to access the embolization site.
Detailed specifications
It is composed of EVOH (ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer) with suspended micronized Tantalum powder for radiopacity and DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) solvent that provides complete filling and distal penetration1 of peripheral and neurovascular lesions. Its non-adhesive properties permit more distal nidus embolization without significant risk of catheter entrapment, while higher viscosities allow for controlled deployment
LibroⓇ must be injected through a DMSO-compatible microcatheter.
DMSO solvent dissipates into the blood, causing the EVOH copolymer and suspended tantalum to precipitate in situ into a spongy, coherent embolus
Precipitation occurs in contact with an aqueous solution (eg blood, water, contrast). It is fluid and solidifies from the outside as the solvent disperses it transmits cohesively, forming a spongy, coherent embolus.
Provides Controlled Delivery.
Slow controlled injection and delivery method.
Ability to start and stop injections (pauses should not exceed 2 minutes).
Adhesive deposition and delivery.
Provides the user with excellent visibility.
Controlled angiography during the embolic injection.
- LibroⓇ immediately forms a skin as the polymeric embolus solidifies from the outside to the inside, while traveling more distally in the lesion.
- LibroⓇ is available in three product formulations, LibroⓇ (6% EVOH),
- LibroⓇ (6.5% EVOH) and LibroⓇ (8% EVOH):
- LibroⓇ (6% EVOH), LibroⓇ (6.5% EVOH) Recommended when feeding pedicle injections will be conducted close to the nidus.
- LibroⓇ (8% EVOH): Recommended for embolizing higher flow and larger fistulous components.
- Neuro Aneurysms and AVMs
- Intracranial aneurysms, endoleaks
- Short procedure time.
- High power visibility
- Micronized grain size of tantalum powder
